Austin Turns 5!

In the last year he has gained 6.4lbs and grown 2.5 inches. 

No wigglies yet, but hopefully this year he will lose his first tooth!

Based on his height and weight today he is predicted to be 6'3" tall. 

This last year Austin started Pre-K at Action Day Primary Plus.  He graduated with flying colors!

 In the fall he played soccer there on the Fire Sharks!  In the Spring he played his first year of T-ball and LOVED it! 

 

 

He was on the Texas Rangers with his buddies Luke and Emilio.

We celebrated his birthday this year by going to the Giants vs. Braves game. 

 

Austin is either the sweetest little boy on the planet or an absolute terrorist.  He can be painfully shy and overly confident.  There is no in between.  Its all or nothing.  He keeps us on our toes and there is never a dull moment in this house.  We love the way his Moose personality bursts from every ounce of him and wouldn't change a thing.

In the next year he is looking forward to swimming at the new house and Kindergarten! 

Cheyanne 8yrs Old!

In the last year she has gained 5.4lbs and grown 1.5 inches. 
She has also lost 2 baby teeth!

Based on her weight and height today she is predicted to be 5'5.5".

In the last year she played Campbell Girls Fast Pitch Fall Ball and Spring Ball. 

 

In the fall she was on the Red Volcanos.  In the spring she was on the Mustangs.  The mustangs came back from last place to win it all in the championship game ON HER BIRTHDAY! 

 

 

 

She also trained to run a 5k with the Forest Hill Girls On The Run team.  I got to see how hard she worked as the only 2nd grader on the team because I was an assistant coach.  She trained her butt off, but unfortunately on race day she spiked a 102.5 fever and couldn't run! 

 

 

 

We celebrated her 8th birthday by going to Alcatraz and spending a day in the city.

 

 

 

She is at a 5th grade reading level and loves books.  She gets mostly 5's on her report cards and a few 4's.  (5=A 4=B 3=C etc).  She is too smart for her own good, sensitive, helpful and funny.

 

Summer Camp Begins!!

Here we go again!  The second week of summer was fun-filled and BUSY!  Just the way we like it around here.  Nathan and Cheyanne both had Campbell Camps during the day and swimming lessons in the evening.  Nathan has moved up to Seaturtles and Cheyanne is now a Grasshopper.  Today Sal was able to watch their first "Friday Sing-A-Long".  He absolutely understood when we left why the kids love it so much there.  The staff, the games, the songs.  I don't have enough good things to say about it. 

This camp is amazing on all levels and my kids are head over heels for it.  They are already deciding on what their "Leader" names for when they grow up and become camp leaders will be.  Austin will be "Moose".  Nathan will be "Thunder".  Daddy will be "Hot Link".  Mommy will be "Banana".  Cheyanne is still undecided.

Superbowl XLVII

The Niners made it!  They busted their butts and thanks to Colin Kaepernick, made it to the superbowl!  Unfortunatly, they buckled under the pressure and after a strange power outage in the Superdome they lost 34-31.  OF COURSE there was a game changer controversial call in the end zone during the last few minutes of the game!!  But no sense in crying over spilled milk now.  They will win next year.

I remember as a kid in the 80's when they WON the super bowl and just how exciting it was!  As huge Niner fans, this was a huge event in our family's life!  If at 31 I can remember clearly the after events of the 1989 Superbowl, then it must have been special.  I am just thrilled my kids got to experience that.  I hope one day they can actually experience a win!  Wait, what am I saying?  I can't wait until next year when they get to experience a win! 

We spent the evening at our friend Alicia's house (who is also a huge fan).  She has 3 boys.  Shiloh (8), Issac (5), Emilio (2).  Issac and Cheyanne are 5 days apart in age as are Emilio and Austin.
Everyone had fun and it was a night to remember!

Kidz Love Soccer!

Well, at least this kid does!  And she is an amazing little runner (if I do say so myself).

Cheyanne started Kidz Love Soccer.  Its a class designed to teach kids how to play and is non-competitive.  There are classes all over California (and beyond?).She loves it!  Coach Scott is very knowledgeable and great with the kids.  The goal is to learn everything she can so in Spring she can start AYSO soccer. 



Fall Sports

The only one in sports this fall is Nathan.  Cheyanne is recovering from her wrist injury and Austin is too young. 

He just wrapped up AYSO Saratoga Soccer and Play Flag Football.

AYSO Soccer!

Nathan has asked to play soccer this year.  We signed him up for the AYSO in Saratoga.  The field is beautiful and close to home.  There has been vast improvement in the team since the start and he really enjoys it!  He even made his first goal last Saturday! 

This will probably be my last Bay to Breakers for a while.  Its no longer a challenge and its just too far.  I'm going to stick to races in my own neighborhood so I don't have to get up at 4:30am.  Instead of my usual "I ran the Bay to Breakers and it was a blast", this time I'm going to do something a little different. 
As I ran 7.4 miles and people watched, looked at the scenery I had time to reflect on everything. I had many random thoughts run through my head.  Here are the ones I can remember.

**If there is more than 1 inch between your thighs, go get a giant burrito and eat it ALL. You need it. Big time.
**Pot? While you're running? Weird.
**Running naked or in teeny tiny shorts leads to chafing.  Oh the chafing.....
**Pot? While you're running? Weird.
**Golden Gate park is really pretty. I am glad the city keeps it so nice.
**Dear Homeless People Sleeping In,  Please wake up.  There is a race and 50,000 people running by you! Thanks, Carmen
**Hey, you there! Ya, you in the horribly shiny gold pants.  Do you have a mirror at home?
**Pot? While you're running? Weird.
**Hmmm. Why is the road really wet here?  It did not rain. It is not near a water station.  Why oh why are there puddles everywhere?
**Really? Pot again?!
**You there. Spectator, who clearly has issues.  The nakedness is for the runners!

Mini T

Cheyanne has decided to play T-ball this year.  Lucky for us the Quito League has just added a MiniT league for 4 year olds only.  We were able to get her squeezed in at the last minute.  Strangely enough she landed a spot on one of her best buddies from schools team.  His dad is the coach too!

When it was time to go shopping for her pants and baseball socks at Big 5, she went dressed like this:

Sports! Sports! Sports!

To avoid bored kids we like to have the kids enrolled in one sport per season.  Sometimes near the end of one season and the beginning of another, they over lap.  This weekend and last weekend that happened.  It has been crazy sports weekends x 2.  Thank god this is almost over.  Nathan handled it very well last Saturday so I'm not to worried about this weekend.  That kid has enough energy for both of us!

At 9:30 Nathan had his first skateboarding class at the Campbell Community Center.  He did better than I thought.  The teacher was probably not a day over 19, but hey, Nathan didn't mind!

Directly after skateboarding at 11am, we went to his Flag Football Game against the Raiders.  Go Seahawks!

Directly after his flag football game he ate a sandwich in the car and was ready for 12:30 baseball practice!  Go Red Sox!

He held up extremely well and actually laughed every time he had to change sports clothes in the car!  Thank goodness!
